Susan George 'Nyinbu (Echidna), pair'. 2008
A great exhibition which opened at the beginning of this month is 'Menagerie', a collection of contemporary indigenous sculpture at Object Gallery and the Australian Museum.
The exhibition features 33 established and emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists representing every state and territory of Australia.
The theme of the sculptures is animals and there is an incredible diversity of media used to depict them including ceramics, wood carving, bronze and aluminum castings, and mixed media assemblages all making up an interesting palette of textures.
'Menagerie' will be open until the 15th of November so be sure to check it out.
